Having travelled across Australia, New Zealand, Bali, and Thailand for a year, Kirsten van Huffelen felt enriched with experience. Bungee jumping, wild water rafting, swimming with wild dolphins and whale sharks, piloting a stunt plane – the bigger the challenge, the better.
Back home in the Netherlands, she soon felt ready for a ‘new adventure’. She moved from Groningen to a welcoming Zwolle, and went in search of a new job – which she found at Cellnex, where she has been the first point of contact for many people since early April.
‘Given the exceptional nature of the towers, preparing for maintenance activities takes more than a little work’, says Kirsten. ‘Of course, everything needs to be aligned, scheduled, and coordinated with all parties concerned.
Safety is key, which is why there is a strict verification process to ensure that the companies working with Cellnex have the certificates needed to perform their contracted activities – from a Safety, Health, and Environment checklist to a certificate for Working Safely at Heights.
Protecting the privacy of client data in the datacenters is also an important aspect. For example, contracted individuals are only allowed access to the floors where maintenance is needed, and all access cards are personalised.’
‘Cellnex places customers and service first, and there is a lot of room for our own initiatives. That is exactly what I had been looking for’, Kirsten continues. ‘During my travels, I met so many different people, and it taught me a great deal – which is proving very useful in this job.
What I also notice is the quality of the partnership between everyone involved. We are all aware of the fact that we have to safeguard quality and security together.
I look forward to keeping the towers in optimum condition with my colleagues and suppliers for years to come!’
