Freedom Internet safeguards privacy of hosting clients with Cellnex datacenters

Starting 1 November, internet provider Freedom Internet offers hosting services to the business market. Facilitated via a new collaboration with hosting provider ProcoliX and by using the datacenter facilities of Cellnex, specialist and European market leader in shared telecom infrastructure services and the reliable connections from Relined Fiber Network, the leading and independent provider of Dark Fiber.

The Cellnex datacenters are located in the 24 telecom & data towers (better known as broadcasting towers) that are geographically distributed across the Netherlands. “This is the first big advantage that we offer,” says Koen de Jonge, Director of ProcoliX. “Administrators never have to drive far to implement adjustments to their equipment.”

Privacy by design

‘A second, and even more crucial aspect, is the fact that we can safeguard the privacy of our clients,” Koen continues. “Freedom Internet and ProcoliX are both strong advocates for a safe and free internet. This also applies to Cellnex, which has privacy and safeguarding the confidentiality of client data as one of its priorities. This clearly shows in everything they do.”

The datacenter floors in the Cellnex towers are small-scale and organised modularly. Besides that, every floor has its own primary provisions.

Access control is also separately organised on the different levels as privacy is one of the focal points. An example is the use of a private camera security system that automatically deletes the images.

Great interest

From the start, the datacenters in the Cellnex towers in Wormer, Amsterdam and IJsselstein will be used. The addition of these three datacenters to the already existing locations used by Freedom Internet means a total of seven datacenters. With regard to the fibre-optic connections between the datacenters, Freedom Internet can use the Dark Fiber network of Relined Fiber Network, which covers the entire country.

Anco Scholte ter Horst, CEO of Freedom Internet: “Freedom Internet with tailored services such as Managed Hosting and Colocation. After this phase, we will add the leasing of virtual machines to our portfolio. We already notice serious interest in our business services and therefore scalability is very important. Fortunately, the Cellnex datacenters allow us to expand quickly and flexibly. In addition to the technical guarantees that the collaboration offers, the common goal of a safe and free internet is at least as important.”

Sustainable collaboration

Robin Verlangen, Director Marketing & Sales at Cellnex Netherlands, is very pleased with the collaboration: “Freedom Internet contributes to a better internet, both technically and within our society. Their ambition is to be a pioneering and driving force in the (global) development of new services in the areas of privacy, safety, open data, and open source. Cellnex shares that ambition. Not just technically, but also within our society and socially. And that definitely is the best foundation for any collaboration!”

Dennis van Jaarsveld, Manager Sales Netherlands at Relined Fiber Network, believes they can mean even more for each other in the future: “We are pleased that we can offer a end-solution to ProcoliX and Freedom Internet in collaboration with Cellnex. One that is focused on the future. It not only strengthens our relationship with the parties involved, it is also, in our opinion, the starting point for more!”
