Cellnex and SPIE join forces for the development of Neutral Host in the Netherlands

Cellnex Netherlands and SPIE have signed a cooperation agreement to jointly work on the development of the Neutral Host telecom infrastructures market. Through this partnership they will offer DAS (Distributed Antenna System) as an profitable OPEX model to interested parties.

About 80% of the UMTS / LTE (3G / 4G) traffic is generated inside a building, while approximately 50% of the buildings in the Netherlands have insufficient coverage. This kind of solution makes the indoor coverage more affordable.

Both parties are convinced of the potential of this market in which cooperation is necessary. Ed Boerema, Country Manager of Cellnex Netherlands: “Cellnex is the largest neutral operator of telecom infrastructures in Europe. Cellnex wants to expand its services in the Netherlands by exploiting multi-operator network solutions, such as DAS / indoor wireless systems and private wireless systems. SPIE more often fulfills the role of system integrator in these types of processes and fits in perfectly with that. ”

“It’s a great partnership, because we really complement each other,” adds Kees Verlaan, director of ICT Services at SPIE Nederland B.V. “SPIE is the market leader in the Netherlands for DAS systems and specializes in designing, installing and managing these systems.”
