From Amsterdam you have a magnificent view over, for instance, the ring A10 and Schiphol, and the tower in the Mortel (municipality of Gemert) offers an inside look near the peregrines.
The municipality of Amsterdam has installed a webcam on the Cellnex-towers at De Zuidas in Amsterdam.
The camera is provided with the latest technology, the images are HD-quality and the camera can be manually operated to different positions. As such, the visitor is able to see not only the offices, the station Zuid and the RAI, but also, for instance, zoom into Schiphol to see aeroplanes landing and departing. In addition, the WTC, the ring A10 and the ABN AMRO can be viewed. Every image remains for 15 seconds at any rate, until the next visitor operates the camera.
This was all made possible by WebCam.NL
The telecom & data tower in the Mortel (Municipality of Gemert) houses the peregrine. On the website of “Beleef the Lente” (Experience the spring) you can view the life of a peregrine-pair who nestled there in 2005. A few years ago, the Bird Protection Foundation Nederland installed a webcam that registers every event.
Looking inside the nest box is not only fun and interesting to do. The peregrines are also very useful near the towers to scare off pigeons. They are the favourite food of this bird of prey. Pigeons’ excrement can be a nuisance in the towers.
