Datacenter Gemert

Hemelsbleekweg 15
5425 PB
De Mortel (gemeente Gemert)

The telecom and data tower in De Mortel shelters the peregrine falcon. On the website, you can observe the comings and goings of the peregrine falcon pair that nested there in 2005. Vogelbescherming Nederland (Dutch society for the protection of birds) put a webcam in the nest a couple of years ago that records all the events in the nest. The view inside the nest isn’t just fun and interesting; the peregrine falcons also make themselves useful by scaring off pigeons. Pigeons are the falcon’s preferred prey. Because of the inconvenience of their excrement, pigeons can become a nuisance in the towers.

This tower was put into service in 1989 and was owned by KPN until 2007. The radio mast only transmits radio signals. The 128-meter-high concrete construction bears a close resemblance to the tower of Ittervoort, but is 10 meters higher.
